Working in SA
Here's some things you need to do before you start working in South Australia:

Apply for a tax file number
A tax file number (TFN) is a unique number issued by the Australian Taxation Office. Only one TFN is issued to you for your lifetime. While it is not compulsory to have a TFN, if you do not have one a higher amount of tax will be withheld than is necessary. All Working Holiday Visa applicants need to apply for a TFN before they can start work in Australia. For full details, please visit the Tax Office website.
Visitors and permanent migrants need authorisation from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to work in Australia. You will only be issued with a tax file number if you have this authorisation. During this application process, checks will be made to verify that you have a valid visa with appropriate work rights. Applicants can register over the internet. If you live outside Australia, visit the the Tax Office website.
Ensure you have a valid visa
You will need a valid visa that allows employment if you are a non-Australian resident. You must have a copy of a suitable visa to show employers. If you are unsure, check with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
Ensure you have spare money
You should have enough money to live on until you receive your first pay.
Open a bank account
If you're planning to stay and work here for a while, it's a good idea to open a bank account within six weeks of your arrival. Advise your bank of your tax file number to avoid higher rates of taxation on interest earned. Your bank account details will include: name of bank, account name, branch number (BSB) and account number.
Check the suitability of the job
Experience is desirable for most seasonal work, but is not essential if you have a suitable level of physical fitness and are keen to learn.
Arrange transport
You will need to arrange your own transport to and from the property or place of business where you will be working.
Insurance and health cover
Make sure you have sufficient insurance and health cover.
